Five minute Friday: REAL

Around here we write for five minutes flat on Fridays.

We write because we want to, not because we have to. We write for fun, for joy, for discovery.

We just write without worrying if it’s just write or not.

Won’t you join us?

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Please visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them.
OK, are you ready? Give me your best five minutes on:

REAL

Go

Real, ‘is that real?’ We ask about certain brands, certain pictures, different props, but most certainly we ask ourselves, “is that person real?” can I trust her or him?

I find myself dealing that way with a certain co-worker. Every action, every word is scrutinized-is she real?

Let’s take it to a personal level… Are my actions perceived as real? Are my words perceived as real? Am I, Melanie, perceived as real?

I’m back! I promise!

Ok folks! I’m back to blogging. I’ve got an iPhone and will now be updating more frequently. I have a lot to update on. Like when I went on a family vacation for 10 days and visited 7 states. Or when I went to San Diego and stuffed my face with local food! Yummy!! Or how I attended an orchestra performance directed by John Williams! All these posts are something to look forward to! I hope you’ll check back in a few days!

Why me?!

So a few months ago one of the search terms used to find my blog was, “Ghetto name for Melanie”

My reaction W O W . . .

So that made me think of urban dictionary. Seth was telling me to go to Urban Dictionary and find the definition which suited me the most…

Did I find it? You bet I did!

Click here and scroll down to #6, if you are curious.

The only part that is incorrect is that I don’t have a million followers but if you would like to add to the number I do have… Click Here to Follow Me On Twitter

So what’s your urban dictionary definition for your name?

Welcome to my Randomness XXVII

**This was written yesterday**

I wrote a guest post for Marlize last month. Read here: http://everygirlscorner.wordpress.com/2011/01/08/melanie/

* * * * * * * *

I took a 2 hour long nap yesterday when I came home from work.

* * * * * * * *

I am now sitting at Renae’s house chilling on her new sofas. 🙂

* * * * * * * *

She’s preggo and I’m SO EXCITED FOR HER!

* * * * * * * *

I went to Best Buy yesterday ready to give the dude my number. He wasn’t there.

* * * * * * * *

I’m going later today or tomorrow. I need to get a new phone. My phone is wack. I have a legit excuse. He better be there. LOL

* * * * * * * *

So my wacko phone. I was talking to a friend one night while charging my phone and it randomly shut off. Twice it did that in the span of 30 minutes.

* * * * * * * *

The next day I tried out my phone again. This time when dialing the numbers the screen blanked out and the light wouldn’t turn on and I couldn’t turn my phone off. It did that twice.

* * * * * * * *

The next day my screen blacked out and randomly opened an application I did not choose.

* * * * * * * *

Apparently, my phone is itching to get back to Best Buy. UGH FAIL.

Just hope he’s there when I go in.

* * * * * * * *

Oh and they didn’t have any of my phones in stock when I went on Friday (last night)

* * * * * * * *

I have missed you my blogging friends. Hopefully I will get into a routine of blogging again with this new job.

Community Network MeMe

I know I’m late! I’m so sorry! 😦

1. If you could interview anyone on your blog (alive or dead) who would you chose and why? I would interview my cousin J. She’s eccentric and without shame, literally. She would give you an honest answer to any question.

2. What do you feel is your strength as a blogger? I believe my candidness-whatever is going through my head is being typed out.

3. Can you share a little bit about yourself that you have not already mentioned on your blog? I am easily pleased by cheap thrills. I can get excited about anything and everything no matter how small. Sometimes, I think its pathetic.

4. If you were forced to change the name of your blog, what would you change it to? Why? Melanie’s life ramblings. I think it’s pretty obvious but I ramble about my life.

5. What do you think is the most fulfilling part of being a blogger? That my life ramblings seem to have some connections with people across the globe.

6. What would you do with your last day if you found you had only one more day to live? I would probably sit down and reflect on my life for a while. If there was anything that needed changing I would try to rectify with the time I had remaining-persons and circumstances. I would strive to leave the world as “righteous” as I could with God.

7. You’ve been doing medical research for decades and have finally found a cure. What was it that you found a cure for and why did you choose this particular ailment? Eczema, allergies, anything under that broad umbrella. I suffer from this and it’s a pain to deal with sometimes, ok I lied, ALL the time. Random flare-ups, needing stronger medicine, etc.

8. What is your most guilty pleasure? French fries but its so bad for me because I’m severely allergic. The next day I’ll suffer for the next 3 days from flare-ups. I tried. Sadness. Not just french fries but potatoes in general, lol.

9. Answer only one. What is your favorite book, movie or TV show? This is quite difficult…but I would have to say The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. Great plot I could not put this book down.

10. What do you think is the very best smell in the world? The one smell that can take you back to a time and place of a very vivid memory in your past? The smell would probably be onions being sautéed… will always bring me back memories of family and friends. Always.

Thank you! Thank you!

Received another award October 9th. Unfortunately, I was unable to relish in this award until now BUT better late than never! 🙂

Thank you Princess Diaries for such an award and the kind words that went with it!

As a side note but one along the lines of thanks and compliments, I received an indirect compliment yesterday. I say indirect because it wasn’t said to me, to my face, but relayed to me by a trusted source. I say trusted because the compliment-or and the trusted source are good friends, to say the least.

I digress, the compliment: The guys are missing out… Melanie is a good catch.
