Welcome to my Randomness XXVI

Sorry late post.

* * * * * * * * * *

And last week I didn’t have a randomness post.

* * * * * * * * * *

By my featured image. YES! I LOVE MY JOB.

* * * * * * * * * *

Post to come later.

* * * * * * * * * *

On my way to work or on my way home I have seen a police officer pull someone over, a handcuffed guy in the back seat, or a bust of a big suburban. Another time coming off the freeway from work a police man had his baton out…

* * * * * * * * * *

Weird. For real.

* * * * * * * * * *

With start of new job I never see my dad.

* * * * * * * * * *

That makes me sad.

* * * * * * * * * *

He called me last night though to make sure I filled out the Life Insurance paperwork correctly.

* * * * * * * * * *

LOL.

* * * * * * * * * *

Oh and I bought NCIS episodes season 1 and 2.

* * * * * * * * * *

They will be on sale until last week of February.

* * * * * * * * * *

We shall see if I get one more.

* * * * * * * * * *

I watched Inception.

AMAZING.

* * * * * * * * * *

Bought it from Best Buy for 9.99

* * * * * * * * * *

My sister is insane.

* * * * * * * * * *

She just randomly asked me to pay her $50 a week for doing my chores.

* * * * * * * * * *

No Dar.

Her: Why not?

Me: Because. You’re not going to do $50 worth of chores each week.

Dar: Yeah I am. Its only $10 a week

Me: Oh ok. What are you going to do each day?

Dar: Your stuff. Chores.

* * * * * * * * * *

I’m not paying her. She’s crazy.

After the conversation she said. Why Not?!

You make enough money!

* * * * * * * * * *

No, untrue. I have other expenses to pay.

* * * * * * * * * *

She’s crazy.

* * * * * * * * * *

Don’t tell anyone!

When I went home on Monday I told my mom all about the good news.  I told her, I’ll be taking TB test and fingerprinting on Wednesday.

I wasn’t able to tell my dad the good news because of how hectic the day was.

Tuesday mid-afternoon, after a work meeting, I saw my mom had called me twice. I call her back.

Mom: Did you tell them yet?

Me: No, mom.

Mom: Ok, don’t say anything yet because they could still change their mind.

Me: Ok mom. Ok.

My dad calls 15 minutes later

Dad: Did you tell your job?

Me: No dad, I didn’t.

Dad: Oh ok, don’t say anything yet until you’re sure.

Me: Ok. I go tomorrow for testing and some paperwork.

Dad: Ok, bye.

10 minutes later my mom calls me.

Mind you, I’m at work.

Mom: Did you get the job? Dad said you were going for testing.

Me: Mom, I need to take the TB test.

Mom: What did they say to you?

Me: Mom! I’m at work right now. Are you at work?

Mom: Yes

Me: Ok can you check your email?

Mom: Ok yeah. Yeah.

We proceed to have a conversation as she asks me questions. I answer her via email.

Email: They offered me the job. I accepted. Tomorrow (Wed) I go in for a TB test and fingerprinting. Friday they’re hoping my prints clear and we can do all the paperwork and HR stuff.

Mom: Oh ok. You didn’t tell your dad medical testing.

Hold on Mom. Dad is calling me.

I join the calls.

My mom tells my dad the background info.

Mom: She already took the test last week. (Correction, I took it last week of November) They interviewed her last week. They called her on Monday.

Dad: Oh ok.

Mom and Dad have a conversation. My mom is speaking in Tagalog as if I can’t understand.

Somewhere along that conversation my dad hangs up the phone without saying good-bye.

Before my mom leaves… You need to teach me how to three-way!

Travel Jealousy, Friendliness, Flirting, and Mothers… Part 2

So to continue from yesterday’s post… Read here if you missed it

We continued talking and I was feeling really awkward because I didn’t know what else to talk about. I saw my friend across the aisle and was going to ask her a really quick question. It didn’t turn out to be really quick maybe it wasn’t quick enough for him… he meandered back to his Aunt.

I kept talking to my friend. Yes, I felt bad but he walked away meaning he too was looking for a way to end our awkward conversation. My friend and I made our way outside…passed right by my Tita and him without giving him a second glance… I could totally feel eyes on me. (hey buddy you walked away!)

So, I would meet my friend and our mutual friend’s house in 5-10 minutes. “I’d head over there as soon as I say bye to my Tita… ”

I walked up to my Tita …I overheard something about dinner. So of course me being Filipino I asked “Dinner?! WHERE?!”

Tita: Carl’s JR

Me: WHAT?! Carl’s JR!!!

Tita: You want to come?

Me: Oh no I’m going to J & M’s

Tita: Oh what are you going to do there?

Me: Dinner and games…

Tita: Oh who? College and career age?

Me: Yeah..

Tita:  (Nods her head towards her nephew) Can he go with you?

I KNEW IT! UGH!

Me: Yeah.. he can come.. does he want to?

Tita: He’s not college age but he’s career age like you.. yeah take him.

Me: Uhm, ok…

We’re there without incident.. I suppose without incident. Coincidentally, the couch were the only seats open. So, Me, girl, him, and other boy squeeze on the couch. Ok it was him, me girl, then other boy. Quite a tight squeeze. Girl was trying to get me to scoot over and she very well knew that I would most definitely not!

So I took him back to Tita’s house around 830ish.

Just my luck.. they weren’t home yet from Carl’s JR. They were 5 minutes away.

So, we’re waiting outside of my car for them.

Him: How many boyfriends have you had…?……. 20?

(ME: UGH!!! REALLY?!)

Me: Oh no…I had one. …. we were together for 2 years.

Him: Oh what happened?

Me: Oh I don’t know…life?

Him: Was he Filipino?

(ME: AHAHAHAHAA YES! SCORE!!!)

Me: No… he was black…

I totally wanted to look at his expression but I was a good girl and refrained because I probably would’ve reveled in my joy in throwing him off ..

SAVED BY THE CAR LIGHTS! They were here.

Him: Thank you for the ride.

:: Extends hand for handshake ::

I accept his handshake.. oh darn what is this kid doing?

He leans in and does a one-arm hug with a cheek to cheek kiss.

::Oh you are so dead. I am so glad Tita didn’t see that. I wouldn’t be able to live this down!!!! ::

Tita: Mel.. are you going to come inside or are you leaving now?

::Hesitation…::

Tita: Come inside!

:: Darn it Mel! Where’s your quick wit?!

So, I come inside luckily I no longer have to entertain him so I stay at their house for about 30-45minutes chilling with the kids and playing the piano.

Coincidentally they have to take him to another house that night instead of tomorrow morning. I’m in the living room sitting on the couch with girl kid. He peeks his head in and says “Bye…” I look up…”Oh bye! Nice meeting you!”

Tita comes in right after him… did you all say bye and give him a hug?!

:: Not looking at Tita…letting kids answer… OH OH NO I’m not falling for that one! ::

I get home later that night my sister tells me when she got home my mom asked where I was…

Sister: Oh she’s dropping off Tita’s nephew…

Mom: Oh does mel like him?!

Sister: MOM! No, can she not be friendly to him?! He doesn’t know anyone!

Dad in Tagalog: That’s why they get frustrated with you because you say things like that…

Can I just say I LOVE MY DAD apparently HE’S the only one thinking straight in this situation. What am I?! THIRTY YEARS OLD THAT YOU NEED TO MARRY ME OFF ALREADY?!

Welcome to my Randomness XX

I had two stories to tell now none come to mind. Wow…talk about getting old.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

I remember!

Anyway, I was reception relief yesterday since my subordinate didn’t come to work. I haven’t been up to the reception desk in about a month or so?

* * * * * * * * * * * *

A client calls. Need to speak with Jack, please (Names changed, of course)

Me: I’m sorry Jack is out of the office for an event. Would you like to leave a message or be transferred to his voicemail?

Client: That’s what you told me last week. Did you ever give him the message?

Me: I’m sorry, this is the first time I’ve been at the reception desk since last month. I work in the accounting department and we’re short-staffed at the moment.

Client: Oh. Well, when will he be back?

Me: I’m not sure I know he had training last week and there’s an event this week. If you leave a message I’ll e-mail him your information. Jack returns phone calls accordingly.

Client: Ok, I need a loan and I was referred by Wells Fargo…

Etc. So goes the conversation.

Sometimes you can tell someone is prolonging the conversation. I was getting that type of feeling with this guy. Hey, what can I do? A client is a client right? Go with the flow, keep him engaged, interested, and portray that I really care about his needs and how our services can meet those needs… yada yada.

Yup, I was right. He just wanted to prolong the conversation. Unfortunately, he asked for my name and yes I gave it.

His conclusion/goodbye. Ok, sweetie thank you so much.

GAG.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

He was probably in his mid-thirties. Not that anything is wrong with that age. It’s definitely not the age for me. 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * *

We were supposed to have an Alumni Volleyball game tonight. We aren’t having one. It got canceled. I’m totally disappointed.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

I was so looking forward to this game!

* * * * * * * * * * * *

At least tomorrow I still have my Saturday league. I’m going to need to find something after this Saturday league is over though.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

November 1st starts the end of my life. Not that I’ve had a life right now anyway. For sure, I’m going to start studying again. This time I’m determined. Studying 3/5 week nights I’m available. Saturday afternoon studying. Sunday afternoon reviews.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Let’s hope I stick with it. I have 2 months planned out. I also have a weekly to-do list. I also have a daily to do list: M, T, W, S/S each day has several goals.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Since I love lists and crossing things off my list…this should help me stay motivated and determined. I’ve also accounted for Holidays.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

The second story I really wanted to share has completely eluded my mind.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

OH MY GOODNESS! I remember now! I think I remember at least. Vegetable oil. Everyone uses vegetable oil, right? Well, we also have olive oil, virgin olive oil, etc.Sometime this week in the evening I was really itchy. I couldn’t figure out why. I took Benadryl and it somewhat subsided. The next evening I was looking at the ingredients for pan de sal. Filipino bread. AMAZING taste. Anyway! It said vegetable oil. I randomly thought to look at the ingredients for vegetable oil just because I was in a weird mood. I don’t know what I was expecting but definitely not what I found out!

* * * * * * * * * * * *

There was only one ingredient for vegetable oil: SOYBEAN OIL

* * * * * * * * * * * *

I immediately stopped eating. That further complicates things considering almost EVERYTHING is cooked in vegetable oil. I think fewer people would actually use vegetable oil if they called it what it really was: soybean oil-sounds weird.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

This morning I came into work later than usual. I was actually able to talk to my dad. I don’t ever see my dad because I’m usually out of the house by the time he wakes up. He was awake a little earlier because he’s attending this online trading seminar. I opted to go into work late just to chat with him even if it was for 15 minutes. I love my dad. He’s always smiling. Honestly sometimes its hard to tell if he’s serious or not because he has those smile wrinkles.

* * * * * * * * * * * *
The only downside to this Saturday evening volleyball league…I’m unable to go out-of-town. My family is visiting my grandpa (he lives 3 hours away). I haven’t seen him since…oh dear. I don’t know when. Probably the summer time. Because in August my skin wreaked havoc and in September my volleyball league started. I miss him. My dad is just like him… lol.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Any randomness you care to share?

Welcome to my Randomness

CONGRATULATIONS LAKERS Sweet 16!

No, I did not just jump on the bandwagon. My family (extended) are die-hard Laker fans. I remember visiting my grandparents and watching Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones play.

The parade is scheduled for Monday. Could it not be scheduled for Wednesday? I need a little more advance notice. My cousin texted me not 5 minutes after the game was over telling me to pick her up because she’s totally down to going to the parade. My cousin-in-law from SD texted me saying they’re planning a trip up for the parade. Believe me yet? My family loves the Lakers.

It would definitely be something to put on my I have done before I die list… and I only work about 15minutes from downtown. Although, Monday would probably be a good day to go to Pink’s… hm. Just a thought.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I watched Pride & Prejudice last night with the Godinez girls. Just saying, Pride & Prejudice is a book everyone should read. Honestly.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My family went camping to Kachuma lake. I miss them. I wish I was with them. Apparently, they’re planning to stop by Delano to visit my Lolo. I miss him too. Actually, I miss both my grandparents. Sadly, Enang’s been gone for years now and I miss the excitement and amusement she brought to family gatherings. Everything centered around her…

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I’ve never seen chewed gum residue at Disneyland….

this is why.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today, I think I will actually buy pants that fit me. I’m not trying to lose weight anymore just maintaining and toning. Oh, and I’m pretty content with my volleyball team this summer. Although, a big change since I’m not on Mr. Archie’s team. I’ve been on his team every single year except the first year the summer games have started, summer games-LOL.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I’ve been craving curry. I don’t know why. For the past week, I’ve been wanting to have some good yummy curry. Maybe Sunday lunch I’ll treat my dad (family included) to Maxim. Probably not though, my dad loves seafood buffets and it’s the least I could do. I figure it’s cheaper than buying my dad a la-z-boy, which is what he wants. (Relayed info from my mom) So maybe the buffet this Sunday will have curry, I’ll be hopeful.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I’m hanging out with a friend tomorrow-at the Filipino town. LOL. Hopefully he enjoys it. I have a feeling he will. He’s kinda cooky like that.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I see Ben & Ryan soon. According to Ben…”REAL soon”. Both can’t wait. Crazy how I haven’t seem them in a year. Kinda weird feeling. Then I see them again a month later because they’ll both be visiting CALI. I’m excited. I miss my twin!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Still haven’t gone swimming. Poor paulie,

wanted to go Wednesday but I’ve been a real scrooge regarding gas. I put $30 on Sunday I’m hoping it lasts til Monday. We’ll see. That means, I may not be meeting my parents in Delano.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Right now I have animal crackers in my car that I munch on while driving thru traffic. (Thanks alot Ben.)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Cayleigh turned 3 last week. I absolutely love her. She’s so crazy. She most definitely has her own personality. Weird how I’m 19 years older than her. I’m going to miss it when she won’t let me pick her up anymore…
