Seriously, no thank you.

Dear blogger friends I will let you in a little secret that I have not yet published: I’m dating 🙂 BUT my attitudes towards guys have NOT eased up, one bit. Maybe they’ve intensified a little

Here a few instances where I would have liked to use the above phrase, “Seriously, NO, thank you :)” [I inserted the smiley face to take the bite off the ‘NO’

A few weekends ago I went to Disneyland (yes, I still love Disney) with my cousins. We were getting dinner at the wharf: Bread bowls.

The cashier singled me out and asked, “chives or ham?”
I probably had a confused look on my face or maybe I had an expression that was a bit ‘put off’ I wanted to have both but I answered, ‘ham’. [I’m hungry give me food!]
Cashier: you can have both if you want.
Me: yes I want both [in my mind I’m shaking my head thinking this guy is ridiculous or maybe I actually shook my head]

My cousin was paying but I wanted her to get a discount so I handed the cashier my pass.

Him: how do you say your name?
Me: [hesitate because this is the stupidest question I have ever been asked] I reluctantly reply, “Melanie”
Him: oh I’ve never seen spelled that way before
Me: no comment

Afterwards with just us cousins: horrible attempt at flirting. Talk about taking a class called flirting 101.

Second instance:
I know this guy just wants to be friends or become buddy-buddy but the way he goes about it is completely wrong. #1 I’m not a touchy-feely person. Surprising, I know. Don’t get me wrong: I hug my friends-those I haven’t seen in awhile; my family when greeting each other; and cute little adorable kids. No, I don’t hug friends I see often nor do I lock arms with them. I keep my hands to myself. My definition of touchy-feely is pushing, punching, or throwing things at you. (in jest, of course!)

But this guy is incredulous, he’ll bump my elbow in jest and joke around but I’m totally cringing inside. I know, he means nothing by it (my boyfriend seconds that opinion as well) but I just don’t enjoy being touched. I have a big personal bubble especially if we are just acquaintances.

Third instance:
I was walking down the street to my doctors office, head down looking at phone with my hair in my face. Meaning: preoccupied and busy, right? Apparently not too busy…I hear this random… ‘hi’ I look up, caught off guard I answer back ‘hi’ [in my head ‘oh great I brought this upon myself!’]
This college aged kid has a huge smile as he repeats himself, “hi!”
I briskly walk to the front door and step inside scolding myself for getting caught off guard like that!

I appreciate politeness and courtesy, give me a smile; I’ll smile back. If you’re a cashier at the grocery store I will say ‘Hello’ and ask you in turn how you are doing and also wish you a good day. I draw the line at smiling. If you have a hat with the bill turned sideways and jeans that could fit two of ‘you’ in them I nod my head in acknowledgement and walk away, quickly, very quickly.

I’m alive!

I know it’s been several weeks since I’ve blogged.

Nothing new.

I’m still loving my job.

I love the people I work with especially my office mate. We get along so well. It’s awesome.

I went to SC/GA at the beginning of this month and need to post my foodie experiences.

I also went to the Georgia Aquarium which was amazing. I loved it.

My ex-bf’s mom let me borrow her car for the whole week which was incredibly sweet of her.

Still going on dates and enjoying it.

Not in a hurry to start dating.

I’m still drinking at least half a gallon of water M-F.

It gets kind of difficult on the weekends since I don’t lug around my half-gallon water bottle wherever I go.

I’m excited for Star Tours.

Oh, I upgraded my Disneyland pass to a Deluxe.

As the Maid of Honor for my cousin’s wedding, I’ve made the invitations for her bridal shower now to print them.

Kung Fu Panda II is coming soon!

Rio is such a cute movie, loved it in 3D.

I’m not enjoying this crazy weather. Sunny, cloudy, rainy, makes me bi-polar just like it!

I went to the Getty Center friday. I ate at the restaurant and walked around the exhibits.

Next time it’ll be the Getty Gardens.

Surprisingly it wasn’t traffic on my way home when I left the center at 5:30ish.

I got home a little before 7pm.

Honestly, Best Buy totally hates me. My laptop is perfectly fine but now my phone doesn’t charge when I plug it in.

I have to plug it in in different ways and move it around different ways to see what makes it charge. And even when I pay attention to how I plug it in it doesn’t really make a difference. It’s completely bi-polar.

I’m enjoying my volleyball class.

On my way to my volleyball class I saw BBG at the intersection waiting to cross as soon as I drove across. WEIRD.

What are the odds?

I must see World Of Color again.

They added Tangled and Pirates 4 to the show.

I miss blogging. I really do.

I think of blogging often.
I think of my readers.

I think of my subscriptions.

I think of my commentors.

Oh how I miss it all.

Life is good. God has been good and he didn’t come back yesterday so I have more days to live for him and get to know him better.

Marc is craving Roscoe I wonder when I’ll be able to go again.

Thanks to the Reich family I now know what book I should purchase, Fountainhead.

Also, I got to test out a nook. Pretty snazzy I like it a lot. Maybe I’ll buy one probably not anytime soon though .

Oh and I’m legit now. I have a key to the building and an access code to set up the alarm for the building.

Pretty cool right? I also have a Staff Id picture and all!

Well, I guess that would be an update of my past 2 months and what I want to do pretty soon.

Until next time and I hope it won’t be several months or weeks til I post again. This was fun. I need to do it more often!

Welcome to my Randomness XXVIII

Finally, a post on the scheduled day! It’s been a long time coming.

* * * * * * * * * *

I’m going to Disneyland today to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

* * * * * * * * * *

Happy Birthday Friend!

* * * * * * * * * *

I went to Best Buy on Monday with 2 other guy friends. He was working, of course. He walked directly behind us as we were walking across the mobile section.

* * * * * * * * * *

Did he see me? Probably. So says the two guys and of course they would know.

* * * * * * * * * *

I need to go back to Best Buy. I’m going to buy a laptop. This time I’m bringing my dad so he doesn’t think I’m stalking him.

* * * * * * * * * *

Good plan right? You better say yes.

* * * * * * * * * *

I love my job. I know I said a post is coming and it is.

* * * * * * * * * *

I must say I’ve been working less than a month and they’ve signed me up for 2 training sessions already.

* * * * * * * * * *

One was last week in Downey. (Sadly, waste of a day) It could’ve been half day but it was a whole day.

* * * * * * * * * *

One is today in El Segundo. Yeah,  I know. So far away.

* * * * * * * * * *

Oh well. I’ve heard good feedback about this one so I’m excited.

* * * * * * * * * *

Just fyi btw. I have been LOVING this weather! So nice, warm, sunny. Ah. What I LOVE about California J

* * * * * * * * * *

My congratulations to Renae @ www.naesheart.com She and James are expecting a boy

* * * * * * * * * *

I miss you dearly my readers but as soon as I get my laptop I hope to blog more than once a week.

* * * * * * * * * *

I picked up my brother from basketball practice. When he got in the car he said, ‘can we get food or something? From McDonald’s?

* * * * * * * * * *

K, you still need to wash my car when we get home though.

I drive over to McDonald’s close to the school. He orders 6 piece chicken nuggets and medium fries.

* * * * * * * * * *

I’m driving to the first window. ‘K, where is your money’

Oh, I thought you were going to pay.

‘OH MY GOODNESS!’

You could change it to small fries instead.

I get to the window change my order to 20 piece chicken nuggets. This boy is insane. I think Dar is rubbing off on him or something.

* * * * * * * * * *

Anyway. I’m on my way home now.

‘Why aren’t you eating?!’

Oh I’m waiting for soda. We have soda at home.

‘OMG. I could have gone to the McDonald’s by home?! You still need to wash and vacuum my car!’

* * * * * * * * * *

He eats in the car. He also eats at home.

He washes and vacuums the car as well.

* * * * * * * * * *

Oh my brother.

Dear Lone Woman at Disneyland,

Dear lone woman who was talking on the phone wearing a tinkerbell shirt at Main Street in Disneyland,

Congratulations! It was kind of awkward how I found out you were getting married. I’m sorry your daughter isn’t returning your phone calls and emails. I suppose there is a good reason she blocked your number? At least you are still able to email her husband. I’m sure he’ll pass on the message.

I’m proud of you coming to the “Happiest Place on Earth” by yourself. It looks as if you were taking a break since you arrived at 11 am and it was now 7:30 when I walked into buy some hot chocolate. Thank you for letting me know that Downtown Disney closes an hour after Disneyland does. Oh, cute shirt by the way. I love how Tinkerbell’s name glitters in gold, fitting. Did you buy that at Downtown Disney?

I’m sorry to hear about the debt you are in. $9,700 is not that bad. You did it to renovate your bathroom. An asset offsetting the liability, good choice. That’s quite an eccentric belief you have there, one cannot get married when in debt… I haven’t heard that one before.

I’m sorry I was eavesdropping on your phone conversation. You probably heard or saw me laughing out loud. Then again, maybe you didn’t because you were totally engrossed in your phone conversation. Just to let you know, I don’t think it did much to talk with your hand over your mouth. I was still able to hear you loud and clear. I tried really hard not to listen but it was just too easy.

An apologetic eavesdropper,

Melanie T

Disneyland & WOC

Last Friday, Friday the 13th, I went to Disneyland.

We headed straight to California Adventure for World of Color fastpasses. We were hoping for the 11:15 showing but ended up with 10:15. The park opens at 10am and we were in line at 10:45.

We got fastpasses for California Soarin’ then headed over to Tower of Terror. We spent the rest of our time in Disneyland-Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, we also got fastpasses for Space Mountain.

We headed back over to California Soarin’ to use our fastpasses then around 3pm we went to Red Robin for “lunch”

We were basically done with the park at this time we just needed to add Space Mountain and World Of Color.

A few stories, while we were in line at the Matterhorn this guy with downs started talking about the ride. He said unless we suffer from motion sickness we should be fine. The funny thing is I think Ben mentioned needing to use the restroom and hopefully he’ll be fine on the ride. LOL.

We saw an interesting character and actually bumped into her a few times. It seemed as if she was following us, according to the guys.

The character

For Space Mountain Ben tried to make a funny face but only got this far… Honestly though, he looks the same on all the rides…

Space Mountain

Then WOC was absolutely gorgeous! It was well worth the wait! We had the 10:15 showing. We headed over to DCA around 9:15 to make some food stops. Danny is in love with their corn dogs. Marc is in love with their ice cream. Anyway we got our food and assembled ourselves with a throng of people around 9:30ish. We did a lot of waiting, standing around, weaving in and out of groups, etc. We got a pretty decent view. The show is about 25 minutes long. Enjoy the few pictures! I have many more but you get the picture, no pun intended.

Pocahontas

This is the part where Dory asks, "DO YOU SPEAK WHALE?!?!"

The Palace from Aladdin

Sebastian from Little Mermaid (Under the Sea)

The colors were so beautiful!

As you can see, this is definitely a world of color show. MUST SEE!

Welcome to my Randomness IX

Yes, I know kinda early right?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Last week my post was a day late-so it’s even now 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

This past weekend was hectic (More detailed post with pictures to come): LAX, Cheesecake Factory at Pasadena, KBF, LAX, Pink’s Hot Dogs in Hollywood, Universal City Walk, Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd, Bel-Air/Beverly Hills, Griffith Observatory, Americana at Brand, LAX, Manhattan Beach, Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles on Pico Blvd in LA, 21 Choices at Pasadena.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Last night the Hatches and my friends went to Bonelli Lake to sea-doo/wave runner. I went to the lake but didn’t participate. I’ve been on it so many times already. Oh and Ben managed to flip the sea-doo within the first 2 minutes of driving.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

We went to Shogun in La Verne afterward. Yummy….Unfortunately I was so occupied and hungry I completely forgot to take pictures… sorry. Next time, I promise.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today after church we’re going back to Pasadena for some ramen noodle. Even more yummy

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Tomorrow I’m going to Disneyland! I’m excited because I haven’t seen California Adventure’s World of Color yet! I don’t know how it’ll go exactly since I’m on a non-starch diet (post still to come). Don’t worry, QueenP I will answer your question!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Saturday my friends leave. Sunday the foreign exchange students leave. It’s going to be really quiet in the house now.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Actually, if I remember correctly…I think my mom invited one of her old best friends to stay at our house for a few days. Something about them traveling down here to go to Disneyland 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

So it may not be a quiet house yet

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Saturday before my friends’ flight I think Danny and I are going to take them to the Promenade… Marc’s idea

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My bff is about to get a girlfriend… I’m sad but happy. Happy for him but sad for me… ah, life. It was bound to happen sometime. Although I find it ironic that he incited me to join in on his singles club… hm… lol

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Food so far: Cheesecake Factory-fresh veggie omelette, McDonalds-southwest chicken salad, potluck lunch at my house-calabasa, adobo-chicken & pork, bbq pork, kilawin, pinakbet, pancit, Pinks Hot Dogs-martha stewart dog, my dad cooked brunch monday morning-fried rice, chicken, & egg rolls, In N Out-protein hamburger, Crumbs cupcakes-Samoa, Beard Papa’s cream puffs-cookie with strawberry filling, Roscoe’s chicken & waffles-chix special & 2 thigh combo (hey i shared with my siblings!) then 21 choices-honey vanilla, raspberry & pomegranate Shogun-banzai chicken entrée. More food tasting to come tonight, tomorrow, and saturday.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Yes with all this food tasting it sounds like I’m just blowing off money?! Oh no, I was on a spending fast all last month and the weeks prior to this friend visit. Also, when they leave I am back on that spending fast.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh yesterday at the lake I was hanging out with my niece (2 years old). She was throwing sand into a pile building a sand castle. I was sitting down next to her helping. I would occasionally stand up to stretch my legs. She would say my name, “Melanie… “

Yes Cayleigh? What do you want?

She would point beside her and say “Sit Down”

Ah, kids…

Welcome to my Randomness

CONGRATULATIONS LAKERS Sweet 16!

No, I did not just jump on the bandwagon. My family (extended) are die-hard Laker fans. I remember visiting my grandparents and watching Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones play.

The parade is scheduled for Monday. Could it not be scheduled for Wednesday? I need a little more advance notice. My cousin texted me not 5 minutes after the game was over telling me to pick her up because she’s totally down to going to the parade. My cousin-in-law from SD texted me saying they’re planning a trip up for the parade. Believe me yet? My family loves the Lakers.

It would definitely be something to put on my I have done before I die list… and I only work about 15minutes from downtown. Although, Monday would probably be a good day to go to Pink’s… hm. Just a thought.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I watched Pride & Prejudice last night with the Godinez girls. Just saying, Pride & Prejudice is a book everyone should read. Honestly.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My family went camping to Kachuma lake. I miss them. I wish I was with them. Apparently, they’re planning to stop by Delano to visit my Lolo. I miss him too. Actually, I miss both my grandparents. Sadly, Enang’s been gone for years now and I miss the excitement and amusement she brought to family gatherings. Everything centered around her…

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I’ve never seen chewed gum residue at Disneyland….

this is why.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today, I think I will actually buy pants that fit me. I’m not trying to lose weight anymore just maintaining and toning. Oh, and I’m pretty content with my volleyball team this summer. Although, a big change since I’m not on Mr. Archie’s team. I’ve been on his team every single year except the first year the summer games have started, summer games-LOL.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I’ve been craving curry. I don’t know why. For the past week, I’ve been wanting to have some good yummy curry. Maybe Sunday lunch I’ll treat my dad (family included) to Maxim. Probably not though, my dad loves seafood buffets and it’s the least I could do. I figure it’s cheaper than buying my dad a la-z-boy, which is what he wants. (Relayed info from my mom) So maybe the buffet this Sunday will have curry, I’ll be hopeful.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I’m hanging out with a friend tomorrow-at the Filipino town. LOL. Hopefully he enjoys it. I have a feeling he will. He’s kinda cooky like that.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I see Ben & Ryan soon. According to Ben…”REAL soon”. Both can’t wait. Crazy how I haven’t seem them in a year. Kinda weird feeling. Then I see them again a month later because they’ll both be visiting CALI. I’m excited. I miss my twin!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Still haven’t gone swimming. Poor paulie,

wanted to go Wednesday but I’ve been a real scrooge regarding gas. I put $30 on Sunday I’m hoping it lasts til Monday. We’ll see. That means, I may not be meeting my parents in Delano.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Right now I have animal crackers in my car that I munch on while driving thru traffic. (Thanks alot Ben.)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Cayleigh turned 3 last week. I absolutely love her. She’s so crazy. She most definitely has her own personality. Weird how I’m 19 years older than her. I’m going to miss it when she won’t let me pick her up anymore…
