BEST BUY: Hate or Love, you tell me.

I realize I’ve been MIA/AWOL for the past two weeks, I think?

Well, I’ve been wondering what to blog about. My life has been the same old same old stuff with not much excitement sprinkled in at all. Makes me really sad because I love blogging and having my readers get a kick out of my life observations and/or experiences.

So, I’ve been thinking about blogging about the random things we talk about at work, everything about work and the people there, the random search terms people plug in to find me, or about urban dictionary. That I believe still deserves a post though so we’ll put that post on hold.

As you can tell from my title this post involves Best Buy.

Not really best buy guy but just best buy in general.

I don’t know what it is but either Best Buy really loves me or it really hates me.

I purchased a laptop 2 weeks ago. It was supposed to come with Anti-Virus software. It didn’t. So, I had to go back and get it.

Well, my laptop is fine and dandy BUT one day it decided not to charge the battery. I switched to 3-4 different sockets in the house. Nothing. It wouldn’t work. So, I asked my dad to take it back for me. Just the adapter. Fine and dandy right?

For a little bit only. THEN. When I would plug-in the adapter to my laptop to charge the battery while I was using the laptop the screen would pixel-ize and it would turn weird colors. Not on a consistent basis but enough to where it bothered me! I couldn’t just restart my computer to let it get back to normal. I had to shut-down and turn on all over again.

So, I took it back tonight and exchanged it for another one.

I got home and opened it up to check on it. UGH!

The laptop adapter has 2 parts. I only have 1 part to the 2 part adapter.

Someone tell me does Best Buy hate me or love me?

Now, I have to go back tomorrow. This is RIDICULOUS!

Oh, NO he wasn’t there. This is only the 2nd time I’ve gone into Best Buy and he not be there. Weird. I know. What are the odds right?!

Oh my life.

Thank you! Thank you!

Received another award October 9th. Unfortunately, I was unable to relish in this award until now BUT better late than never! πŸ™‚

Thank you Princess Diaries for such an award and the kind words that went with it!

As a side note but one along the lines of thanks and compliments, I received an indirect compliment yesterday. I say indirect because it wasn’t said to me, to my face, but relayed to me by a trusted source. I say trusted because the compliment-or and the trusted source are good friends, to say the least.

I digress, the compliment: The guys are missing out… Melanie is a good catch.

Welcome to my Randomness XVII

I’m in interview overload at the moment. I interviewed with Metro for an AP Clerk position specifically under the union. I had an interview with ExEd in West LA yesterday for Accounting Analyst. Today, I had an interview with USC for Accounting/Cash Managing/Database system.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Confusing I know. I will tell you regarding USC, I feel blessed: About 200 applicants were screened by HR and passed onto the Hiring Manager. The Hiring Manager has interviewed 10 people so far.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

To be quite honest, the fact that I interviewed with USC is pretty cool. Of course, my expectations aren’t parked there. I will do my best preparing for each interview but whatever happens, happens and I will be grateful no matter what!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Moving on to the non-serious aspect… uhm, is this weird to you?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I was just wondering if anyone else thought it weird.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh I’m also wondering who else gets Columbus Day as a Holiday? I do. I think it’s weird since we don’t observe Veteran’s Day but then again we also celebrate Cesar Chavez day.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining.. Give me all the Holidays you want! I’ll take them! πŸ™‚

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh goodness this LA weather is crazy! It rained Mon, Tues, and Wednesday. Today, Friday its about 85 degrees outside.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Sorry, my brain is moving quite slowly while thinking of all the randomness that’s happened in my life. I’m still stuck on interview mode and today’s interview was at least 45 minutes which is the longest interview I’ve been through.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Granted I’m enjoying polishing my speaking skills and thinking on my feet. This is as close as it’s getting in a classroom setting for me, at least for now.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Can i just say I love blogging?! It’s quite therapeutic for me. πŸ™‚

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I must say, my faithful readers and commentors (is that a word? What’s the proper term for that?)… I appreciate YOU! Yes, you! Whenever I see a comment it makes me feel quite special. Not to mention I love reading YOUR blog as well!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Well its leave at 3pm day because of the expected Holiday traffic. I must finish things up before I leave.

Oh and those of you who live in LA & Orange County.. it’s flashing all over the freeways. Child Abduction.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Have a most wonderful weekend! I’m hoping to capture some parking fail pictures this weekend πŸ™‚

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Hopefully I don’t encounter anymore random bathroom flushing signs…

Proof I’m BROWN!

Just kidding, just because I’m wearing Filipino cultural dress doesn’t mean I really am Filipino BROWN.

I just felt like putting that as my title!

Not that I’m not Filipino BROWN, because I totally am.

Anyway, enjoy the cultural dress…

Guest Blogger:Β 100thΒ Post

Hey Mel’s blog lovers! =]

I’m Marlize from Every Girl’s Corner and today I get the honor of hi-jacking this blog for a super guest blog post. I am the 100th blog post! Sweet hey?!

The reason I got awarded this greatness was probably because of sympathy…Every 50 comments I have a guest post and Mel was the lucky winner of one of those spots. A few hours later I stupidly noticed I missed my own blogs’ 100th party!! Sad, sad, sad.

After I miserably posted a blog post about my lack of attention, Mel promised me the honor of getting this 100th post. She really is that amazing!

So in honor of the celebrations I will list a few things I love about Mel and her blog!

  • She is blatantly honest!
  • She does the coolest randomness posts EVER!
  • Even after she was told she can’t eat most food, she was still positive!
  • Her awesome ‘bad parking’ photos!
  • She thinks I am a good writer =]
  • Her ‘no-nonsense’ attitude!
  • She knows what she wants, even if others’ don’t understand it!

Basically, it comes down to this…Mel is a great person. A wonderful blogger. And an amazing friend!!! I am so glad to be part of her 100th post celebration and to know I was on the road with her to here. Even if I jumped onto the road a little after the starting line =]

Let’s all raise a virtual glass to her and hope we are all together again for the next 100! Or even 1000 =]

Have a party cupcake! Mel, hope you can eat cupcakes…. If not….

May I have it please?? πŸ˜€

Happy 50th Birthday Dad!

Many of your friends know you to be a guy who knows his stuff-cars, carpentry, plumbing, finances, directions, and electrical wiring. They would most likely describe you as the guy who’s always smiling and care-free.

To me, you are more than just the dad with the corny jokes and the dad of all trades. You are a person who has greatly influenced my life. Allow me to share my dad for a brief moment.

My dad is a silent leader who leads by example.

My dad does not have to tell me what kind of man I should marry and how I should expect to be treated, he shows me in the way he treats and interacts with my mom. He shows me in the way he sacrificially and willingly provides for the family.

My dad does not have to tell me to spend time with God. I see him everyday before I leave for work-he sits on the couch by the window or at the bar stool in the kitchen. I see him hunched over in prayer or with his glasses on reading his Bible.

My dad does not have to tell me to work hard and do my best. I see it whether he’s putting in a new window, checking on all the cars, or cleaning the kitchen.

My dad does not have to tell me how to spend my money. I know. I see the importance of saving money. I hear the messages left on the answering machine from Investment Companies. I see the mail with the Investment software inside. I see him looking through the papers and notice the items on sale.

My dad does not have to tell me to help around the house. I see him cooking dinner, cleaning up after himself, and washing the dishes.

My dad does not have to tell me he loves me or that I have his support. I know he does because of the actions stated above and so much more I have not mentioned. Even though I know he loves and supports me, he tells me anyway without any coaxing from his wife or family.

Everyone has an example in their life. My dad happens to be mine and I’m thankful the Lord has given him 50 years may God bless him with many more!

LA County Fair

Friday, I went to the LA County Fair.

I must interject, the weather has been absolutely horrendous last week 2/7 days were cold/gloomy days. The rest of the days were 80-100 degree weather!Today I feel like a piece of bacon cooking in a frying pan.

I involuntarily parked in the VIP area. I got lost in the parking lot and couldn’t find the general parking. It was already 10pm were they really going to do something about it? Just to let you know the parking lot is confusing.

We saw the animals.

Clydesdale Horse

My friend Sarah paid to ride the mechanical bull. She stayed on for about 3 minutes.

Sorry it's blurry.

I like being random and taking pictures with cardboard cut-outs to place my face in:

Chuckwagon Cut-outs

We didn’t eat the Chuckwagon BBQ but Bubba’s BBQ instead. This is about $13 we got 2 plates of these and shared it with 6 people- 2/6 were guys; 1/6 was my brother. We were full.

I went to the food counter to grab knives, forks, and napkins for everyone. The guy at the counter told me I could take the whole thing. I told him, “Sure I’d sell these utensils for $0.25 each.”

I’m assuming a girl trying to get a guy would ask if one could take him.. sorry buddy, you’re trying with the wrong girl.

Just smile and walk away…

Yummy...

We also walked around the shops…I sent this picture to my sister, she said I should buy it for my dad’s birthday. I decided not to.

My brother thinks I'm weird. Now you do too πŸ™‚

My friend bought a fried Klondike bar. I had some but I couldn’t taste the chocolate or the ice cream. I just tasted the fried mixture stuff. I do love fried ice cream though so I’m pretty sure a fried Klondike bar would be amazing.

Fried Klondike Bar

There were more fried stuff you could buy…

I’m not quite sure how you can deep-fry cheesecake…

We also stumbled upon this…

Bacon fetish...

Yes, chocolate covered bacon. I had to interrogate someone about this. Upon further investigation, they are already packaged. They are refrigerated. Can I just say GROSS! Cold bacon?! Oh and the picture looked like regular potato chips just imagine them as chocolate chips. (Sorry, no picture it was dark and the sign background of the bacon chocolate picture was yellow.) I didn’t ask about the bacon wrapped Oreos. I would have probably thrown up…

We ended the night with funnel cake. I didn’t think I needed to take a picture since those were one of the normal things people eat. πŸ™‚
