Tim Uli: Heaven

As of Today…

Rest in peace, Timothy Uli.

The light of my life went to be with the Lord this morning at 5:00 a.m. He put up a good fight, but the cancer was just too aggressive. His last days were peaceful and painfree. He would wake up from the meds sometimes to write us short notes on paper. He couldn’t speak since he was on a ventilator due to the cancer crushing his lung.

These last days with Tim were the most precious moments I could have asked for. God allowed him moments to communicate with me and assure me he loved me. I know he’s in a better place now with no cancer, no pain, and no worries. I can’t wait to see him again someday.

I miss him. Love you Tim!!!

The other day as I pulled out of my neighborhood someone was blasting their music. I was trying to look for the car. Oops, it’s not a car. It was someone on their BIKE! WHO DOES THAT?!

My friend Pamela Mirasol says I should be a writer.

I told her I would be mentioning her in my blog and she thinks because of that she’ll be famous.. ahahahaha

I have been using the phrases/words: ‘as well’,  ‘I suppose’, and ‘ya’ll’, way too many times. I have used the word remiss 3x in the past week.

Please define the word ghetto.

I’m in search of the most accurate definition possible.

My mom called me out on my stress level the other day. My skin has been horrible and I know its stress. I am unable to hold any small object in my hand steady, let alone my own hands. Yes, I eat 3x a day sometimes 4x which is 2x more than I usually do. I have been drinking more than a gallon of water a day.  I wish I had 30 minutes to run on the treadmill every evening but that will soon be true after Tuesday!

Ben doesn’t think I’m a girl. Apparently I don’t have woman’s intuition, based on his psychoanalysis. According to him, I don’t process and act like a girl would. Too long of a story. NEXT.

Someone searched for ” picture drunk lady at bar” that’s how I got one viewer. For the record, I would not want to see a picture of a drunk lady.

Welcome to my Randomness V

I have not slept in my bed for a week now.

Why?

I went on vacation to Chicago for four nights.

I came home with foreign exchange students in my siblings’ room meaning my siblings had conquered my room. ( I have 2 full size beds in my room)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I probably won’t be sleeping in my room for awhile though. My cousins are coming over this weekend. Then we get more foreign exchange students Sunday night. I don’t remember how many we are getting. We had 4 last time.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Knott’s Berry Farm tomorrow with my cousins! Incidentally it ‘s Kababayan Fest, I don’t know what that means but one of my cousins asked if he should bring his cultural garb. Ugh, if you want to, I guess?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have about a week and a half left til my CPA exam. Ugh, my stress level is rising.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have been wearing skirts/dresses this whole week. It has been unbearably hott! I actually turned on the AC yesterday as I was driving home from work. The air was stagnant and heavy.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today, 9am in my car, driving to work with the windows down, I started sweating. This is insane! 9am?! SWEATING!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Us cousins are supposed to have a picnic tomorrow, we’ll see how grumpy everyone gets because of the heat. Shows you how much I’m looking forward to it. No, I’m joking, I’m most definitely looking forward to spending some major quality time with my cousins for this weekend!!! 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Since I’ve been back from Chicago I have been horrible at communication. Well, communication involving my phone. Some text messages I haven’t replied to since the beginning of this week and some a couple weeks later. Horrible, I KNOW! I’m sorry! I promise after the 27th it WILL get better.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Actually, now that I think about it. I like not being glued to my phone. For this past month I think I’ve forgotten my phone at home at least once each week. My phone has died more times this month than it has ever in the history of Melanie owning a cell-phone.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My stress level? Yes, it is rising. I have noticed that when I sit down to study and do my questions I unconsciously begin to play with my hair and unknowingly I may pull hair strands. Weird and gross, I know but hey, just saying….

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh my boss’ dog died yesterday of cancer. Isnt’ that sad?! 😦

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have to think of something really random because I don’t want to end on a sad random. That’s just mean. OH! Today after RU there will be a potluck/BBQ. I AM EXCITED FOR FOOD! Haha, Oh and for Bfast/Lunch (post t0 come) I had a bfast burrito. It was huuuge! It encompassed more than half of the brown paper bag!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME.

Any special celebrations? No, I’m going home to study. Sadness, isn’t it?

A year ago, I was a recent college grad with a part-time job at a sporting goods store attending a church where no one knew who I really was, wanting to get away from it all. Today, I am a Staff Accountant for a non-profit organization plugged into a church where I find people to befriend, minister to, and pray for.

My bob jones network is crazy-I’m finding that out with every Christian place I visit.

*****************************************************

My brother comes home from camp today! I miss him. It feels like I haven’t seen him in  F O R E V E R! In reality, it’s only been a week.

*****************************************************

I noticed that when dealing with paperwork I only like to see one staple holding papers together. If I notice more 2-4 staples for a stack of paper, I will remove all the staples and staple it all back together-only one staple necessary. Quirky huh?

*****************************************************

I’m still tired from my Chicago trip.

*****************************************************

My friend from college is getting married. She just called me today. Incidentally, she was trying to find me on Facebook and resorted to calling my ex-bf whom she didn’t know was now my ex-bf. Weird, huh?

*****************************************************

I do not appreciate being whistled at. Just to let you know. I am not some sort of dog or animal to whistle and holler at.

*****************************************************

Oh and that guy I was talking about a month ago? Yeah, he e-mailed me.

*****************************************************

It’s true, you never really know someone until you’ve spent several days with them. I

Earthquake

5.9 Southern California earthquake.

Sitting at my desk when I felt my legs starting shaking back and forth. Thinking to myself I really hope this non retrofitted building holds up for this one.

There were 2 separate shakes. My VP came in telling us we’re along the Whittier Fault Line-which is probably why we felt a stronger one with the second set of shaking.

Nothing toppled over but just alot of shaking. Crazy we’ve been having alot of mini earthquakes and my dad is telling me to make sure I always have gas in my car. He’s expecting a big one to hit sometime-“bigger” than the one we had a couple summers ago.

The more I feel these earthquakes the more I’m starting to believe the reality of a bigger one coming.

According to MouseWait Disneyland is being evacuated-normal procedures. Wonder how the skyscrapers downtown were.

Friends

DISCLAIMER: This may not have an adequate conclusion and may end up to be a rambling bumbling speech.

Friends. Have you found that friend that understands exactly how you feel and thinks in the way that you think? THE friend you call your twin?

Have you been in one of the friendships where it doesn’t take much to “make it work,” so to speak? I think people just say that to make themselves feel better.

Friendships take a lot of time. One does not randomly become best friends by running into each other every now and again. You spend time with one another, build memories, and have inside jokes.

I have a friend-he believes in the not giving much to make it work philosophy. I’m not a needy person by any means, but when one hasn’t heard from a friend in three months you start to wonder-although he has texted me, you know it’s not the same.

So, three months later my life has seen more action this year alone than in my college & teenage years combined he calls me trying to figure out what else has been new in my life. A lot has happened actually and something happens within me where I don’t want to share and tell him. I don’t need or want him to know.

The only reason this thought process goes on in my mind is because I have changed. I’m not the same person he knew three months prior, he wasn’t there to witness the changes or help me through them either.

Truth time: I went through this same thing when I came back from college. I had withdrawn from everyone. I was a completely different person from when I had left. I had changed so much. I had grown spiritually. I had formed my own convictions. I had experienced real friendship-it was more than going shopping and talking about boys/girls, you know the staple. Real friendship where you prayed with one another, you talked about what you were learning in devotions, what struggles you were going through, etc. I had experienced others’ burdens-I had experienced carrying it with them.

Back on track with truth time, I moved back “home” and withdrew from everyone. I didn’t even try. I hadn’t tried during the summer months-because no one would really notice. I struggled with hearing the same old stuff-the complaining, the gossip, the apathy.

For months, I struggled. I didn’t talk to anyone. My friends consisted of a few adults who remembered I still existed, my siblings, and Cayleigh. Part of the problem was I was holding on and not wanting to let it go.

What I did. I changed Sunday School classes. I am going to RU. I’m participating in the RU curriculum. I’m surrounding myself with people who are like me-sick and tired of the complaining, the apathy and striving for change.

Friends who know, understand, and moving in the same direction.

I’m working on my pride at the moment. I know I hurt a lot of people by withdrawing and being a recluse. I probably disappointed them as well. I’m more of an actions speak louder than words person but I know a few who would appreciate being talked to about my past, present, and future.

This week consisted of food…

Wednesday at KBF we walked down the street towards McDonald’s and saw this mexican food place. Olivia and I saw Carne Asada fries and California burrito and we were sold.

We had a california burrito in SF and we’ve been trying to look for it ever since. Consider it found!

California Burrito

Carne Asada fries & California Burrito

Carne Asada Fries

We had Pink’s for dinner at KBF. West Hollywood seemed to have more delectable choices-these were decent as well..

Friday for lunch I had sushi. Found this place here.

Spider Roll

Tasted like they fried the crab a little too long but I like how they have caviar with the dish. Definitely added to the flavor.

Salmon Roll

The salmon pieces were big chunks and very fresh. The best salmon rolls I’ve ever had.

Friday night after RU we went to Maxim. I ordered eggplant with szechuan sauce. It was so good! Our foriegn exchange students made this for us once. What they did was fry the eggplant then sautee it with oyster sauce.

Olivia, Jeffrey, Tim and I also ordered drinks…

L to R: Hawaiin passion, rainbow surprise, black cow, and lemon tea.

Olivia's drink: Strawberry ice cream on top of shirley temple drink

Saturday lunch: Sorry Jay but me, Dar and Tita Gail agree we found a place where Famous Daves does not stand a chance. Actually, we attended Dar’s company picnic catered by Canyon City BBQ and they had beef brisket, chicken, potato salad, beans, and biscuits. The meats were tender and juicy. oh… man. it was AMAZING.

From Cayon City Website

Canyon City Menu

Sunday evening Ms. Warner’s foreign exchange students never had a hamburger. We went to Legends. I’ve only been to Legends once in High School. I forgot how big the portions were. I ordered a large Legends Sampler to share with everyone… French fries, zucchini fries, fried mushrooms, and onion rings–they were fried to perfection. The zucchinis and mushrooms were juicy.

Ms Warner cut me a small piece of her carne asada burrito.

Olivia also gave me half of her burger. I didn’t eat it-still in my fridge.

Mushroom swiss burger

At the end of our meal, I brought home 3 plates of leftover food. . .

I don’t think I’ll eat this whole week. Oh and I’m still 100 lbs. LOL

Summer is Approaching!!!

My goals:

  • CPA Reg Exam
  • Buy a Universal Studios Annual pass
  • Visit Metro Baptist Church
  • Beach days
  • Getting rid of a massive knot in my back. (Idk how many massage sessions that would take)
  • Payoff another student loan
  • Re-activate my deactivated Facebook
  • The only reason would be to get back in touch with the friends I’ve lost contact with since I deactivated my facebook and my phone broke–losing more than half of my contact list. I’m not quite sure how ready I am though, especially after reading this article and this one.
  • Find out the status of a friendship
  • Confusing I know. I’m confused myself but we’ll leave it at that. Maybe I’ll blog about it-change the names and a few circumstances. JK.

My plans:

  • Let my cousins know I am so proud of them.
  • Ryan Corpuz graduating
  • Janet Torres Raguindin graduating
  • Julie Torres graduating and off to Hawaii for college!
  • Go on a spending fast for one week of the summer.
  • San Diego June 5th (maybe stay the weekend)
  • Knotts Berry Farm June 9th
  • CHICAGO: July 2nd-6th
  • July 4th in CHICAGO
  • watching the Angels play the White  Sox (Wrigley Field wasn’t possible since the weekend games were in the afternoon)

  • Celebrate my birthday early with my fave peeps-Crystal better try and make it! 🙂
  • Run the town-eat, shop, unforgettable memories
  • Renew my Disneyland Pass.
  • Seriously contemplate about joining choir versus thinking about thinking about joining choir.
  • Attend Fundamental Baptist Church in Escondido, Pastor Merritt
  • Have an awesome time with BJ friends who will be visiting me!
  • Take Ryan and Andrew to Pink’s Hot Dogs and Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles.
  • Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Orange County, everywhere
  • Hit up the swimming pool-stock up on melanin for the winter 🙂
  • Finish and post the page of my friends.
  • Make a decision about travel plans for the next 6 months.
  • Guam: January 8th, 2012 for Amos & Mabes wedding
  • If not Guam then New York in January to visit Miray and ice skate at Central Park
  • Watch Joann Torres play Chicago ball!
  • Greenville, SC for BJ Grad & Charleston with Kendra-May
