Are you looking for me?!

The search terms used to find me have been quite bizarre lately. Allow me to share the few laughs I’ve had…or utter confusion…

#1. smiling happy family at home with car free photos for websites

What does that mean?!

#2. happy 50th messages to father

Get your own ideas!You never know if your own Father will look up the speech you read him 🙂

#3. please reply on my text

I suppose you were emailing someone to ask them to reply to your text? Maybe?

#4. “the form was as followeth”

I’m confused…what does that exactly mean?

#5. she is my mom

actually, she could be MY mom

#6. picture drunk lady at bar

First of all, I would not be at the bar

Second of all, why in the world do you want to see a picture of a drunk lady at a bar…

I would think that is a very unflattering and unattractive picture… my personal opinion though

#7. nephew flirting his aunt stories

uhm that sounds awkward

#8. how do i remove my internet picture crystal torres

were you submitting a question and signed your name or were you wishing to remove a picture of crystal torres?

#9. rainboots site:wordpress.com

Did you find what you were looking for?

# 10. kiley tchang

Were you looking for someone by that name? I have no idea who that is… or what that is…

Welcome to my Randomness XVII

I’m in interview overload at the moment. I interviewed with Metro for an AP Clerk position specifically under the union. I had an interview with ExEd in West LA yesterday for Accounting Analyst. Today, I had an interview with USC for Accounting/Cash Managing/Database system.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Confusing I know. I will tell you regarding USC, I feel blessed: About 200 applicants were screened by HR and passed onto the Hiring Manager. The Hiring Manager has interviewed 10 people so far.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

To be quite honest, the fact that I interviewed with USC is pretty cool. Of course, my expectations aren’t parked there. I will do my best preparing for each interview but whatever happens, happens and I will be grateful no matter what!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Moving on to the non-serious aspect… uhm, is this weird to you?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I was just wondering if anyone else thought it weird.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh I’m also wondering who else gets Columbus Day as a Holiday? I do. I think it’s weird since we don’t observe Veteran’s Day but then again we also celebrate Cesar Chavez day.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining.. Give me all the Holidays you want! I’ll take them! 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh goodness this LA weather is crazy! It rained Mon, Tues, and Wednesday. Today, Friday its about 85 degrees outside.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Sorry, my brain is moving quite slowly while thinking of all the randomness that’s happened in my life. I’m still stuck on interview mode and today’s interview was at least 45 minutes which is the longest interview I’ve been through.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Granted I’m enjoying polishing my speaking skills and thinking on my feet. This is as close as it’s getting in a classroom setting for me, at least for now.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Can i just say I love blogging?! It’s quite therapeutic for me. 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I must say, my faithful readers and commentors (is that a word? What’s the proper term for that?)… I appreciate YOU! Yes, you! Whenever I see a comment it makes me feel quite special. Not to mention I love reading YOUR blog as well!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Well its leave at 3pm day because of the expected Holiday traffic. I must finish things up before I leave.

Oh and those of you who live in LA & Orange County.. it’s flashing all over the freeways. Child Abduction.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Have a most wonderful weekend! I’m hoping to capture some parking fail pictures this weekend 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Hopefully I don’t encounter anymore random bathroom flushing signs…

Is this your parking spot?!

My brother asked if I drove around parking lots looking for people who don’t know how to park. No, actually I went to El Pollo Loco to use the bathroom because I was about to do the need to use the bathroom dance.

I happened to stumble upon this talented driver…

The life of a single…

I’m having a conversation with my married cousin living in Hawaii about our cousin’s wedding. We’re both in the bridal party. I’m telling her about my idea I found online.

She interjects, “I know this is really random but are you open to meeting guys….?”

Me: Uh, yeah…?

Her: He’s Filipino but he’s tall. He’s really nice. But he has braces…

Me: Filipino is ok as long as he’s tall LOL.

Her: Yes…hesitation…. but he’s in the navy…

Me: Oh… ok. so how often did you guys hang out?

Her: Him and your Manong Rag hung out a few times when he was stationed in San Diego. He stopped by the house when he was deployed in Hawaii for a few months. He’s really nice.. you guys can meet next year when we move to San Diego…

Me: How tall is he?

Her: like 5’10” … right hun? (she’s talking to her husband) .. background noise. He has braces though.

Me: Oh braces are ok.. because he’ll have nice teeth..!!!

Her: Yeah yeah. haha. Go on your sister’s Facebook and see manong rag’s friends. His name is… [wait for it…]

Lloyd… [inside my head-he would have a name like Lloyd… ]

Me: Ok, but how are we supposed to meet?

Her: When we move to San Diego!

Me: When is this?

Her: Next year around April or May

Me: Oh ok…

Her: Get a Facebook then you guys can talk with each other!

Me: Ugh, no. I can wait til next year when you guys get here!

Her: Look at his pictures!

Me: Uh, no.. don’t tempt me to anonymously get a Facebook. . .

Her: Mel, I’m glad you’re open to all this…

Me: Yeah manang… I’m not a bitter single woman..

Her: Good, I’m glad. So I expect you to visit me often in San Diego…

Sorry, I JUST HAD TO!

So, I’m weird and quirky.

I have a certain way of doing things, a certain way I live my life, a certain way of dealing with people. That’s just me, MELANIE.

Where’s this going?

I had to. I’m sorry.

DELETE his number from my phone…

WHY?

Because. It was just weird for me. We still e-mail back and forth but, I felt like it.

Last night, I laid in bed flipping through my contacts which I do on occasion to send texts to friends I haven’t spoken to in a while and I came across his, on a whim, I deleted it.

I must say it took 2 tries. As I pushed the delete button I received a text message, FAIL. Try again.

Honestly, I don’t know what I’m doing. So, since I don’t know what I’m doing I don’t want to add anymore I don’t knows.

Yes, I’m interested but I’m not interested enough to go through the unknowns with him. I’m not interested enough to break down Melanie barriers and walls.

I’m not interested enough to go through the whole getting there stage… I don’t even know what that means.

It just isn’t enough to let him see me from my castle tower surrounded by the Great Wall of China with a moat as deep and wide as the Grand Canyon.

What I do know?

We’ll continue e-mailing and maybe through that I’ll know.

Besides…we’re acquaintances getting to the friends stage, I think.

Ugh, SEE! No one knows?! I’d rather just not think about it. So, there with the deleting his number and posting of this post.

It’s done!

Welcome to my Randomness XIII

Tomorrow my volleyball games are at 5 and 7pm.

I’m EXCITED!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have a friend from college coming for the LA Country fair. Hopefully I get to hang out with her. Albeit she only lives in SD so I could always visit.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My lesson for the past week has been contentment and it’s a battle.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

From now on, I’m going to try and respond to all comments. I always appreciated people replying to my comment. So, now I’m going to try to do the same.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Bear with me, sometimes I don’t have a reply. I suppose a staple should be “Thanks for stopping by, come back soon :)”

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Sounds like it should be one of those state leaving signs… States have signs welcoming you….then they have signs thanking you for coming…Random, I know.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The reason I know? For graduation we drove from GA to SC all the way to ME. We saw a lot of state welcoming signs and thank-you come again signs.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My cousins were supposed to spend the night tonight and we were going to go to Roscoe’s. Alas, my cousin got hired for a job. Sad no Roscoe-cousin bonding time but I’m glad she got a job.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Hm, I don’t know if I’m going to the Fair this year. Anything good?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Considering I can’t eat anything… lol, probably not. Ugh, I never got to have my fried Twinkies.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The Kashi brand has become my new best friend. If I can’t find anything to buy at the store I just look for the Kashi brand. I’m bound to find something I can actually eat!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I wonder what people think as they see me pick up box after box looking at the side-I wonder if they think I’m looking at the sugar and calorie information or the ingredients.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh and vacation was wonderful! I’ll have to bug my sister about pictures. BUT! Vacation couldn’t have ended sooner than my 2 coach purses, ugh. Shopping fast here I come.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Of course, not after I go to LOFT tomorrow because I have a 30% off coupon and 25% off coupons on purchases. I’m in need of tops-blouses, shirts, etc.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Tailor lady could you please hurry a little so I can rein in on my spending? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you 😀

Welcome to My Randomness XII

Today, I am at work BUT after work I am going on a FAMILY VACATION!

Woohoo! I’m excited. We’re driving up to Monterey.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Food wise, it will be quite interesting since I can’t eat soy, potatoes, celery, carrots, or peanuts (among other things). Don’t worry, I brought Benadryl and loratadine, just in case.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today was my first day to drive in the carpool lane on my way to work. My parents rode with me so they can pick me up from work and we can head straight to our destination!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My dad: Oh, it’s not too traffic going to work. That’s good.

Me: Uhm, dad, we were in the carpool lane. I can’t take the carpool lane to work.

Dad: Oh yeah. Oh well.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Last Saturday, Danny and I drove down to eat out with Renae and her husband, James at Chili’s. The parking lot was full…

People in the OC think they can do whatever they want.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Lately, this song’s lyrics has been my mindset: Not that you died By Legacy Five.

Not that You died for the whole world
that humbles my heart, brings me to my knees
Not that you died for the whole world
But Lord that you died for me

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I want to take classes again but I’m going to have to wait til I pass my CPA exams. I’m asking around about Counseling classes. I’m really wanting to continue with my Psychology/Counseling minor.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My sister and I are planning to FINALLY take pictures-at the beach and hotel. Drive around and find other spots to take pics at, etc.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

She’s into photography and has 2-3 books on different techniques, coloring, lighting etc. We’ll see how well she does 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My mom ran into someone from our neighborhood who tailors clothes. I dropped off 3 pairs of pants to get done-$15 for all three. How amazing is that?!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have a full bag of clothes-skirts, dresses, and blazers-needing to be tailored. I’m going to bring them in 3’s. I’m not in a hurry.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

On Wednesday I went to the mall with my sister. I found these jean capris that fit me perfectly! Perfect enough that I would wear it every day 🙂 Well, I didn’t get them because it was Buy one get one half off and I didn’t have another pair. If I bought them alone it was $27. I don’t pay that much for jean capris.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Yesterday I went back because I got off work at 5 and got to the mall at 6. Just to see and try them again. I really liked them and I figured if I tried them again maybe I wouldn’t like them and I can “let them go”. Haha. Guess what?! It was 50% off! WOOHOO! I bought them for $13.50-ah. YES!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I also went to Forever 21 and bought some accessories-ring and necklace:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I even went to Target-I had to return the gum and the cashews. 😦

The gum had soy lecithin; the cashews contained peanut oil.

It was a good thing I looked at the ingredients!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh and as I was walking into Target with cashews, gum, and receipt in hand-some guy in his truck:

Random guy: Hey! Are those cashews?!

Me: Uh, yeah, haha

Random guy: Share those! Cashews are good!

Walking away laughing out loud….

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

All that done and got to church at 7:05 !!!

Disneyland & WOC

Last Friday, Friday the 13th, I went to Disneyland.

We headed straight to California Adventure for World of Color fastpasses. We were hoping for the 11:15 showing but ended up with 10:15. The park opens at 10am and we were in line at 10:45.

We got fastpasses for California Soarin’ then headed over to Tower of Terror. We spent the rest of our time in Disneyland-Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, we also got fastpasses for Space Mountain.

We headed back over to California Soarin’ to use our fastpasses then around 3pm we went to Red Robin for “lunch”

We were basically done with the park at this time we just needed to add Space Mountain and World Of Color.

A few stories, while we were in line at the Matterhorn this guy with downs started talking about the ride. He said unless we suffer from motion sickness we should be fine. The funny thing is I think Ben mentioned needing to use the restroom and hopefully he’ll be fine on the ride. LOL.

We saw an interesting character and actually bumped into her a few times. It seemed as if she was following us, according to the guys.

The character

For Space Mountain Ben tried to make a funny face but only got this far… Honestly though, he looks the same on all the rides…

Space Mountain

Then WOC was absolutely gorgeous! It was well worth the wait! We had the 10:15 showing. We headed over to DCA around 9:15 to make some food stops. Danny is in love with their corn dogs. Marc is in love with their ice cream. Anyway we got our food and assembled ourselves with a throng of people around 9:30ish. We did a lot of waiting, standing around, weaving in and out of groups, etc. We got a pretty decent view. The show is about 25 minutes long. Enjoy the few pictures! I have many more but you get the picture, no pun intended.

Pocahontas

This is the part where Dory asks, "DO YOU SPEAK WHALE?!?!"

The Palace from Aladdin

Sebastian from Little Mermaid (Under the Sea)

The colors were so beautiful!

As you can see, this is definitely a world of color show. MUST SEE!

Welcome to my Randomness VII

I am a guinea pig for 2 weeks with this Kangen water belief.  More detailed post to come.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

It has been a full week since I have taken any antihistamine medications. I am DYING from lack of sleep. I am perpetually tired.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Not to mention after my test on Tuesday I was a complete zombie.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My test is done, I have no idea what to do. I feel completely lost because for the past two months I’ve been study study study and now I don’t have to study til after Ben & Ryan visit. It’s weird.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

For the past month I had 8 email drafts in my folder and 4 starred emails to reply to or to finish and send out. Now, I only have 6 email drafts and no starred emails!  🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

More cousin time this weekend! Delano Filipino Weekend I haven’t been in AGES…

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My friend in Brazil who is getting married in 5 months will be purchasing an apartment with a guest bedroom. Know what that means?!?! Lord willing, Melanie will be going to BRAZIL! Woohoo!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

MEET MY FAMILY TIME:

Last Saturday. It was a little before 10am. I was in my comfy house clothes. I am sitting at the island/bar in the kitchen. I’m eating brunch and writing in my prayer journal. I am rudely interrupted by someone who doorbells 3x and knocks quite annoyingly. So much for ignoring them! I answer the door at first glance I thought it was the UPS man ’cause I see brown. Looking more closely it’s a brown jacket (it’s also blazing hott outside). I open the door it’s my cousin’s grandpa.

“Melanie! Good morning, where is John?!”

*The majority of this conversation is in Tagalog*

Me: Oh hi Lolo, John isn’t here.

Him: Where is he?!

Me: At church with Darlene

Him: What time will he be back? I bought this VCR from the Goodwill store and I want to know if it works.

Me: Oh, I don’t know what time they’ll be back.

Him: Where is your dad? How about your mom?

Me: My dad is at work and my mom is at Wal-Mart

Him: Wal-Mart?! Your mom is always shopping (mind you my mom was working a booth RU had at Wal-Mart. I’m not fluent enough to know the Tagalog words of ministry outreach at Wal-Mart, sorry mom.) What time will your dad arrive?

Me: Oh um, 3:00.

Him: Too long. Where is John? Will they be eating at home? or eating out?

Me: Oh I don’t know Lolo what they are doing.

Him: I want to know if this VCR will work. I want to return it when later today if it does not.

Me: Oh ok Lolo. I don’t know how to set it up because we have a new tv.

Him: Aye, I am thirsty you have Pepsi?

Me: Oh um yeah Lolo. Here.

By this time It’s like getting to 11am. I eventually drop him off at his house not before taking him to Stater Bros so he can buy meat and milk. (oh and after he drank his Pepsi he laid out on the couch to rest)  He’s been unable to buy milk because milk & meat are too heavy to carry from Staters to his house (just repeating what he says)

Anyway, yeah. My dad picks him up after work as he walks in the door I’m ready to walk out of the house–

Him: oh Hi I am back Mel.

Me: Oh Hi Lolo.

Him: Your dad invited me to come

Me: Oh ok Lolo.

Him: Where is your mom?

Me:( AHAHAHAH) Uhm, I don’t know Lolo she hasn’t been home.

Him: My goodness!

Me: Ok, well bye lolo!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I believe this is as random as I can get (my family included). I may be wrong…

Welcome to my Randomness V

I have not slept in my bed for a week now.

Why?

I went on vacation to Chicago for four nights.

I came home with foreign exchange students in my siblings’ room meaning my siblings had conquered my room. ( I have 2 full size beds in my room)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I probably won’t be sleeping in my room for awhile though. My cousins are coming over this weekend. Then we get more foreign exchange students Sunday night. I don’t remember how many we are getting. We had 4 last time.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Knott’s Berry Farm tomorrow with my cousins! Incidentally it ‘s Kababayan Fest, I don’t know what that means but one of my cousins asked if he should bring his cultural garb. Ugh, if you want to, I guess?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have about a week and a half left til my CPA exam. Ugh, my stress level is rising.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have been wearing skirts/dresses this whole week. It has been unbearably hott! I actually turned on the AC yesterday as I was driving home from work. The air was stagnant and heavy.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Today, 9am in my car, driving to work with the windows down, I started sweating. This is insane! 9am?! SWEATING!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Us cousins are supposed to have a picnic tomorrow, we’ll see how grumpy everyone gets because of the heat. Shows you how much I’m looking forward to it. No, I’m joking, I’m most definitely looking forward to spending some major quality time with my cousins for this weekend!!! 🙂

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Since I’ve been back from Chicago I have been horrible at communication. Well, communication involving my phone. Some text messages I haven’t replied to since the beginning of this week and some a couple weeks later. Horrible, I KNOW! I’m sorry! I promise after the 27th it WILL get better.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Actually, now that I think about it. I like not being glued to my phone. For this past month I think I’ve forgotten my phone at home at least once each week. My phone has died more times this month than it has ever in the history of Melanie owning a cell-phone.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

My stress level? Yes, it is rising. I have noticed that when I sit down to study and do my questions I unconsciously begin to play with my hair and unknowingly I may pull hair strands. Weird and gross, I know but hey, just saying….

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Oh my boss’ dog died yesterday of cancer. Isnt’ that sad?! 😦

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I have to think of something really random because I don’t want to end on a sad random. That’s just mean. OH! Today after RU there will be a potluck/BBQ. I AM EXCITED FOR FOOD! Haha, Oh and for Bfast/Lunch (post t0 come) I had a bfast burrito. It was huuuge! It encompassed more than half of the brown paper bag!
